Melissa A. Tillman is the founder of New View Psychology Group and is a Licensed Clinical and School Psychologist. She specializes in providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for a range of social and emotional challenges in children, adolescents, and adults. Additionally, Dr. Tillman incorporates components of Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Social Skills training within her treatment approach. Dr. Tillman has received specialized training in Exposure Therapy, which she incorporates in her treatment of phobias and anxiety disorders. Dr. Tillman is committed to providing a supportive, non-judgmental and collaborative environment for individuals and their families. She takes a direct, practical, and problem solving approach to treatment. Dr. Tillman believes that collaboration is very important and often involves families, schools, and other professionals when creating an effective treatment plan.
Dr. Tillman has significant experience working with children, adolescents, and adults facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, OCD, phobias, emotional dysregulation, lack of distress tolerance, bereavement and loss, social and relationship difficulties, life transitions, and stress. Dr. Tiilman has worked in several different school environments ranging from preschool to college. She therefore, understands the unique challenges that occur at different stages of life and is able to adapt her approach to the developmentally appropriate level. She believes each client is an individual and needs a unique approach to fit their presenting problem. Together she helps clients develop goals and creates a strategic plan to achieve those goals. Dr. Tillman’s mission is to help her clients change the maladaptive way in which they are thinking and behaving by providing them with both education and specific strategies. She strives to encourage independence in her clients and elevate their mental health.
Prior to New View Psychology Group, Dr. Tillman practiced as a School Psychologist on Long Island and was a member of a private practice specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical and School Psychology and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Psychology from Hofstra University. Dr. Tillman is the owner of New View Psychology Group where she provides individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to children, adolescents, and adults.
