Danyelle Salpietro, Psy.D. CASAC-T

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Danyelle Salpietro is a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a goal-oriented, solution-focused form of psychotherapy that is proven to be effective in treating many different disorders and problems that range in severity. In therapy with Dr. Salpietro, clients learn to overcome their symptoms by changing their thought and behavioral patterns using a variety of CBT techniques that are individually tailored to each client’s goals and needs. Dr. Salpietro ensures that her clients learn skills that they can continue to use beyond therapy.

In addition to providing evidence-based and outcome-driven CBT, Dr. Salpietro uses a recovery approach that emphasizes gaining and retaining a positive sense of self, as well as meaning, purpose, and satisfaction in life. She creates a safe, supportive, client-centered therapeutic environment that fosters respect, trust, growth, hope, and the belief that recovery from mental illness is possible and attainable. It is important to Dr. Salpietro that her clients are empowered to make choices in treatment and in life that will enhance their functioning and life satisfaction.

By nature, Dr. Salpietro is calm, patient, open-minded, and flexible. She is always willing to examine her own points of view and to attempt to see the world through others’ eyes. She believes it is important to build a therapeutic relationship with her clients at the start of therapy. This builds mutual trust, respect, and will allow the client to feel comfortable to open up at his or her own pace as therapy progresses. The therapeutic relationship will allow Dr. Salpietro and her clients to collaboratively work together to tailor interventions using the client’s strengths to meet their current needs and goals.

Dr. Salpietro has experience working with a wide range of psychiatric disorders and problems that include anxiety, OCD, depression, relationship issues, stress, and life transitions. Dr. Salpietro has experience working with clients that differ in age, gender, sexual orientation and identity, ethnicity, and cultural, religious, and spiritual backgrounds. She has found that maintaining curiosity about human differences has helped her not only develop a non-judgmental stance towards diverse clients, but also to come to appreciate human difference as the source of a most enriching experience.

Dr. Salpietro earned her Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D) in Clinical Psychology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She received additional extensive training from The Beck Community Initiative, developed under the leadership of Dr. Aaron Beck, who created and refined Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Salpietro is also a Credentialed Alcoholism Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T) through the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (NYS OASAS). She earned her Master of Arts (M.A.) in Psychology and Clinical Studies at Adelphi University and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from St. John’s University, where she studied Psychology and Criminal Justice.
