Jennifer Andreopoulos is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified School Social Worker. She is experienced in providing individual and group therapy for children, adolescents and adults with a wide variety of social and emotional challenges including Anxiety, anger management, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Depression, emotion dysregulation, self-esteem, and separation and/or divorce. Jennifer is also experienced with providing parent support and training.
Jennifer’s work with children and adolescents focuses on building and maintaining a trusting relationship that develops from a warm and supportive environment where clients can feel safe. She incorporates components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness and Social Skills training to help children understand how their thoughts impact how they feel and the role they play in their actions.
When working with adults, Jennifer utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach to help clients gain an understanding of negative thoughts and how they affect mood and behavior. The goal is to reframe thoughts to promote healthier actions and positive emotions. She provides a non-judgmental and safe environment for clients to gain success.
Jennifer believes in a collaborative approach to therapy. She provides clients with strategies and tools that are evidenced-based and goal oriented. Her mission is to support each client’s individual needs and promote independence and success.
Jennifer has been working as a School Social Worker for over 20 years on Long Island and is a member of the Committee on Special Education for preschoolers and school- aged children. She has extensive experience in helping families navigate the school system and working collaboratively with parents and educators to utilize a team approach when working with children.
Jennifer earned her M.A. degree in Social Work from Adelphi University. She graduated Cum Laude from SUNY Stony Brook with a B.A. in Psychology.
