Deborah Lawson, Ph.D.

Licensed Clinical & Certified School Psychologist

Deborah Lawson is a New York State Licensed Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist.  Dr. Lawson has an in-depth background in both clinical and school settings.  She is highly skilled in psychotherapeutic interventions with children, adolescents and adults.  She specializes in providing evidence based, individualized, cognitive behavioral therapy to clients and their families.   Dr. Lawson provides a warm, calming, and supportive environment.  She works with her clients to identify goals and strives to give them personalized strategies to maximize their success.  

Dr. Lawson has a passion for psychology and keeps up with the latest evidence based interventions which include mindfulness and DBT approaches.  Dr. Lawson has extensive experience with helping clients overcome challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, bereavement and loss, social, life transitions, body image, and stress.  She spent many years in a school setting working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and staff to create individualized behavioral plans and conduct assessments to meet the needs of her students.  She works well with other professionals, families, and schools to create a collaborative approach when needed.  

Dr. Lawson has a love of education.   She earned her Ph.D. from Hofstra University in Clinical and School Psychology and holds an Educational Administrative Certification from Dowling College.  She also obtained an M.A. from St. John’s University with distinction.  She graduated her undergraduate Summa Cum Laude with a Psychology major.
