Leigh Rust, Psy.D.

Licensed Clinical and Certified School Psychologist

Dr. Leigh Rust is a New York State Licensed Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist. He has worked as a School Psychologist since 2011.

Throughout his clinical and school experience, Dr. Rust has gained extensive training in Child/Adolescent Psychology. He specializes in Anxiety, Depression, Behavioral Disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Rust often incorporates components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, and principles of Behavior Analysis in his eclectic approach. He is exceptionally aware of the social, emotional and behavioral needs of a child and utilizes a “whole child” methodology.

Dr. Rust creates a comfortable and calm space where a client feels safe and available for conversation. He is known to be a favorite amongst school-age children due to his fun-loving personality and incredible pop-culture know-how. Dr. Rust loves all types of music, movies, superheroes, sports teams, video games, and of course, Star Wars!

In addition to the New View Psychology Group, Dr. Rust practices as a School Psychologist and serves as a Committee on Special Education Chairperson on Long Island. Dr. Rust has helped guide numerous families through the world of special education with his in-depth knowledge of psycho-educational evaluations, individualized education plans, and 504 plans.

Dr. Rust earned his Psy.D. in School Psychology from Fairleigh Dickenson University, his M.S. in School Psychology at Touro College, and his B.A. in Psychology at SUNY Buffalo.
